Secret Faults Vs. Presumptuous Sins
Sep 25David, the author of this majestic psalm of praise to God for His revelation of Himself and His nature to man, voices his own frustration at his inability to mold his life totally in accordance with God’s revealed plan. He recognizes and asks for God’s forgiveness, for his failures to measure up, and asks for strength to avoid habitual sin patterns and willful rejection of God’s way.
Christian Identity – Part I – The Believers Position
Sep 24The search for identity and meaning can drive one to great successes or tragic failures. For the Christian, however, the question is answered throughout Ephesians. We are chosen! We are selected as a favorite out of “many [who] are called” (Matthew 22:14) “out of the world” (John 15:19). What a privilege! We are God’s choice to bear His name, represent His cause, and share His glory throughout eternity.
The davidic covenant
Mar 04"He shall build an house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men." (2 Samuel 7:13-14) These verses comprise the heart of the great "Davidic Covenant" made by God with David and his "seed." As with many Old Testament prophecies, it had both an immediate and ultimate fulfillment. Initially, it applied to Solomon who did, indeed, "build an house for my name." Its complete fulfillment, however, had to await the distant coming (a thousand years in the future for His first coming) of David's greater Son, the Messiah. It was only of Him that God could promise uniquely that He would also be the Son of the heavenly Father (Hebrews 1:5).
Are we together with Christ Jesus?
Feb 25"Even when we were dead in sins, |God| hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:5,6).
Suicide… does it disqualify one from heaven?
Jan 06"Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." Mark 3:28-30 Posted on a recent online discussion forum was this question, "Does suicide keep someone from going to heaven?" Over the years, I have heard this same question asked from time to time. Sadly, teachers of God's word often concentrate of the act of suicide instead of the final disposition of that poor soul in relationship to God their creator. The act of suicide, no matter the motive or method, only terminates the poor soul's life here. What suicide cannot accomplish is the eternal termination of that same soul and his or her accountability before the God who created him! A number of years ago, a dear shepherd of a small north Georgia fellowship discovered his own beloved son had terminated his life by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Though the son was gone - the family was left to pick up the pieces of a life shattered by that young man's final act of desperation.
