Those tents have kept us safe for a long time… However, the behavior of our country with regard to God is catching up to the U.S. and the world. It will be a bitter pill to swallow when we see those who think that "embracing" sin is peaceful. I'm sad to see prayer gone from school, but Yoga, outright worship of sun, moon, serpent, etc. accepted as okay and as a science? I'm so saddened, there are so many that need to know Jesus and they will not listen. They are deceived by the incessant scoffing of our generations past. Please Lord, God bring a revival.

I'm praying endlessly for people close to me, the Jews in Israel, the Jews here that are my friends and that are unknown to me. I'm praying for those in the countries in the middle east where Christianity has been kept from them and they have never heard the word of God in the Christian Bible. I hear stories about upon these people hearing even just one scripture that they are converted and overtaken by the Holy Spirit. Jesus' work is not yet done. We all need to pray and never cease until we see our Lord. I think He will have work for us to do then as well, so we may as well be in shape.

Also, Bono never said that Jesus, Jew and Mohommed were all "true" in the sense that they were the same religion or the same faith. I know this because unlike the people who have criticized this comment to no end, I was actually PRESENT to hear what he said. What he said was that the members of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim faith were all sons of Abraham. This is actually Biblically backed. He merely paraphrased Scripture. Do you read Scripture anymore or does it get in the way of you writing your judgmental blog?

Bill Hybels reaches the largest audience of un-saved people who are actually willing to attend church than anyone else in this nation. He has redefined Christianity with the core beliefs of outreach and tolerance while too many churches are closing their doors to the sick so the supposedly healthy do not get infected. It's actually reversing the very instructions Christ left for His followers, and it's sickening to listen to and even more nauseating to watch.

Would you people just stop kicking this dead horse already? Don't you have better things to make ass-backwards statements about like not using condoms in Africa or the continued subjugation and subservience of women?

The fact that you would even list Humphreys shit-stain of a theory as authoritative ruins any credibility you didn't have. His theories have been proven categorically false since the day he started flinging them on paper. He has actually been barred from speaking in numerous forums, not due to censorship (which you'd still most likely call it), but because the guy is certifiably nuts and giving him an opportunity to speak is just asking for one of his stupid ideas to come out that has been proven false time and time again. Did you know he was trying to come up with an alternative theory to electro-magnetism because he didn't think electrons praised god enough? Go read one of his papers, then go read a real scientific paper; shit stain really is the best description of Humphrey's "work". I wouldn't even accept it from my freshman physics students. But of course you didn't actually read his papers, you just copy and pasted someone else's incorrect thoughts about them.

None of this "research" is in ANY peer reviewed journal because it simply can't pass the peer review process since it's false. Does that mean the data is false? No, they find data all the time that contradicts current theories, the thing that is false is their conclusions. It is unfathomably unlikely to overturn any theory, let alone theories that have such robust bodies of evidence such as the Earth's age and it's place in a cosmological timeline. It is exponentially more likely that you are just interpreting the data incorrectly due to your own bias of trying to force god into a place he doesn't belong.

Does this apply, do you think, to the gospel writers' direct reporting of the exact words spoken by various people?

I have in mind how often our gospels' writers "quote" other people. Besides Jesus' the gospels also record words of the disciples, Herod, angels, demons, Satan, tax collectors, and crowds of people all saying the same words all together. The gospels even record long speeches spoken in dreams, and verbatim accounts of inner thoughts that were never spoken, but that Jesus knew because He could read minds.

Here's our Bible reliability question : How'd they do that? How are the gospel writers able to quote the incidental ephemeral speech of all those bit players exactly ?

word for word what the angel said in Joseph's dream, [Mt 1, MT 2]
word for word what Herod said in his secret meeting, [Mt 2]
word for word what the centurion said [Mt 8]
word for word what the man with leprosy said [Mt 8]
word for word what the demons said [Mt 8]
word for word what the Pharisees thought in their private thoughts but never spoke? [Lk 5]
Word for word the things said by the woman at the well? [Jn 4]

What possible method could our gospel writers have used to come up with all the various verbatim quotations they claim to give?

Or did the gospel writers get all those "quotations" by just making them up? Is it more likely that "Matthew" knew the words Herod spoke in a secret meeting, or did "Matthew" probably, like everyone else back then, just make up quotes because that was the standard way to tell a story?

And if the only reasonable non-magical explanation is that the gospel writers got their "quotations" by making them up, then …. our gospel writers made stuff up. Just made it up. And it is not true the gospels are historical, not in the sense that the sayings and events we read about in them actually happened.
