Reject Favoritism

“My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons” (James 2:1).

favorite Evidently the believers in the early church were much like us, in that they tended to honor and favor wealthy individuals in their congregations. James commands them to reject such partiality, and gives the reasons why.

The first reason is that God’s perspective is just the opposite. He favors the one of low rank. “Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom?” (v.5).

Thanksgiving – the unseen

“For every creation of God is good, and nothing to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified through the Word of God and prayer.” ~ Timothy 4:4-5

praying We understand that this “Thanksgiving Day” season is the perfect time to offer up “thanks” for the things we richly possess and for the people who enrich our lives; for the food on our tables, the roof over our heads, the clothes on our backs, the vehicles we own and the country we live in.

For Pro-Lifers, A Rocky Mountain High

438V For a case with such enormous implications, Tuesday’s ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court has received relatively little media attention. The Rocky Mountain region is poised to take an enormous step in the movement to defend and define the personhood of the unborn.

By a unanimous 7-0 decision, the high court gave its approval to language for a ballot initiative that pro-lifers hope to put before voters in November 2008. If successful, the campaign would make Colorado the first state to vote on the question of when life begins.

Turning Thanksgiving into “Thanks-Living”

Psalm 107:21:22
by Adrian Rogers

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men and let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving.”

Now, if you don’t mind writing in your Bible would you underscore those phrases right there, “the sacrifices of thanksgiving” and “declare His works with rejoicing.”

Now, it has been said that talk is cheap. We thank the Lord and we say Lord, we’re so thankful, we’re so grateful for all that you’ve done for us. Well, do you know what we need to do? We need to turn Thanksgiving into Thanks-living. That is, to offer to God the sacrifices of thanksgiving.

The truth about Halloween

Each year Christians are faced with the social pressure of this event we call “Halloween.” Our children are exposed to it at school and through commercial advertising, displays, and items to be sold, and they find it hard to resist being a part of all the festivities. Many Christians find it harmless “fun” and see no reason to oppose it. Other churches and believers attempt to “compete” with it by having special “harvest festivals” (or similar such events) at the church facilities so that families can have an alternative for their children. For information’s sake, here are a few facts:
