One of the most tragic movements in Christendom today teaches that God promises to make each Christian prosper in material wealth.
And so it was with all the human writers of the Bible. God’s Word (like Christ Himself) is both human and divine, yet meeting all our needs. This is mysterious indeed, but well within the capabilities of our omnipotent and gracious Creator.
In general, Gnosticism was the belief that matter itself is evil and spirit is good, the body being a prison of the soul. Philosophers who tried to combine this belief system with Christianity insisted that Jesus could not have had a human body (since bodies are evil) and therefore could not have been crucified.

Kenny Copeland, since the late 1970’s; is living proof that if you scream a lie loud and long enough – it will become the truth to those deafened by it’s constant emphatic repetition. Nor has Copeland shied away from his belief that his spiritual teacher; Papa Kenneth Hagin, was and still is his divine inspiration. Sitting in his word faith kingdom and living large in Texas – Copeland remains at the top of the Word Faith kingdom. In Copeland’s bizarre world of biblical doctrinal error, a world we affectionately call “Planet X”, he continues spouting these heretical teachings and the joy of many a stupid sheep:
“God . . . hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 4:8)
Every believer has some awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, if there is no such awareness, then there is absolutely no relationship with God (Romans 8:9). Just what, then, is the ministry of God’s Holy Spirit in [...]
“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and a faith toward God.” (Hebrews 6:1)
The phrase “dead works” can be found only twice in the New Testament. In the first (our text) it refers to the deeds of the unsaved sinner from which he must turn away in salvation, while in the second, later in the same epistle, it refers to unprofitable deeds accomplished by the believer, from which we must also turn away (Hebrews 9:14).

Everyone tells me that I am way to serious about stuff. Actually, I have a pretty lame sense of humor – something to do with spending thirty plus years living in a full house with a wife, a least a dozen young people, eight Jack Russell Terriers and a border dog named “Jack.”
So, I created a special category called, “Duh!” This is where I will post at least one stupid story from around the world… a stupid story for every day of the year – unless you’re Jewish! If you are – then you get blessed with four additional stupid stories for free! Enjoy!
William Cody Bateman
P.S. By the way, I was known as “Spanky” each time I hiked portions of the 2,178-mile Appalachian Trail… that’s gotta’ count for something.

In the Book of Ephesians are included several guidelines for the Christian’s speech–how we should talk and what we should talk about. These are not easy rules to follow, but are necessary if we would please our Savior and be effective in our Christian lives and witness.
As our text indicates, vulgar talk, idle chatter, and coarse jesting should “not be once named among you, as becometh saints” (5:3). “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (4:29).
The same applies to bitter, angry, malicious speech. “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” (4:31). And certainly our communications should be true and trustworthy. “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor” (4:25).

“Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread” (Isaiah 8:12,13).

“Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” (I Corinthians 1:20).
The scholars and scientists and intellectuals of this world may be held in great esteem by men, but to God, their humanistic reasonings are foolishness. In fact, the evolutionary philosophy which dominates the “wisdom of this world” has led to our modern amoral culture, to racism, to imperialism, to communism, Nazism, to New Age pantheism, humanism, atheism, abortionism, and to all manner of evil and foolish beliefs and practices.
