David Wilkerson Predicting U.S. Catastrophe

David Wilkerson Predicting U.S. Catastrophe

Mar 11

“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service, as men pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” Colossians 3:22-25

Famed pastor, David Wilkerson, predicts imminent catastrophe

World Net Daily News, March 08, 2009

“An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen,” he writes. “It is going to be so frightening, we are all going to tremble – even the godliest among us.”

Wilkerson’s vision is of fires raging through New York City. He goes on to say:

“It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago,” he explains. “There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

With all the credibility David Wilkerson seemingly has – apparently he and those who follow after the validity of such “prophecies” need to recall God’s admonition:

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:19-21

Enoch spoke of God’s coming wrath and his words are found again in the book of Jude. Enoch (and all who prophesied in times past) were driven by God the Holy Spirit alone.

Paul hammers this point home perfectly when he reminds the Church that:

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” Hebrews 1:1-2

As far as Wilkerson goes – he is speaking the same “predictions” Pat Robertson spoke several years ago when he claimed that our country would be pummeled by the worst series of hurricanes the world had ever seen. What became of his prediction? There were zero, none, nada hurricanes that year!

The closest prediction I ever heard about our countries demise came from an unlikely source – Larry Burkett of Christian Financial Concepts (Crown Ministries today). In his book, “Whatever happened to the American Dream”, Burkett “predicted” our nation’s currently developing financial disaster. He even correctly “predicted” the timetable for our countries financial upheavals. Right on cue, we have our economic catastrophe in the making. When did Burkett write these things in his book? 1991.

Would Larry Burkett then, be a modern day Prophet? No. Our brother and Apostle Paul, inspired and driven by the Spirit, debunks that notion. Jesus Christ is our prophet and His Words are enough for each believer to find comfort and surety of faith too!

Even our brother and Apostle John penned these words long ago in the book of Revelation:

“… worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10

Wilkerson did not receive a prophecy no more than my dog can predict when it is supper time. In fact, his “word” is no more credible than the common man reading today’s newspapers – everything we see taking place in the world is spoken of in volumes by the prophets of old and in these last days, by our Savior and Great God – Jesus Christ.

Lastly, be reminded of Jesus’ words:

“And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony.” Luke 21:8-13

Did you get the last verse? Wars, persecution and the such – are our opportunities for testimony about the One in whom we believe! After all:

“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:8-14
