“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” Jude 1:14-15

One of the more mysterious figures found in all the Bible is the man, Enoch. He is first mentioned in the Book of Genesis:

“And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:18-24

It would be very easy for the casual reader to quickly scan the various genealogies of God’s Word – including the above text – and miss some incredibly important truths. Such is the case here.

Enoch was the seventh man from Adam – having been fathered by Jared. (Genesis 5:18) Enoch himself, fathered sons and daughters too – most notably the man Methuselah. (Genesis 5:21-22). The most controversial and mysterious aspect of Enoch’s life is found in the next two verses:

“And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:23-24

These two verses are the last references to Enoch until Luke mentions him more than 3,000 years later in the Gospels. Unlike his predecessors who lived for several hundreds of years, Enoch lived “only” one-third of that lifespan. (Genesis 5:23) Secondly, the bible declares that Enoch not only “walked with God” but that, God took him! (Genesis 5:24)

Enoch pleased God. At a time in human history when men turned from God worldwide and sought out earthly pleasures and abominations – Enoch remained faithful toward God alone:

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrew 11:5-6

Luke mentions Enoch as coming from the same line of our Messiah, Jesus Christ! (Luke 3:37) There is though, one more critical mention of this unique and mysterious man of God. God the Holy Spirit reveals the message of Enoch to those last generations of people who, out of hearts hardened by unbelief, were about to meet God face to face in judgment:

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.” Jude 1:14-16

Jude records, under the guidance of the Spirit, Enoch’s warnings to a wicked world about to be destroyed by water sent from God (Genesis 6:3, Genesis 6:7, Genesis 7:4, Genesis 7:17-23) and to a present wicked world about to be destroyed by fire sent from God during the Great Tribulation period!

enoch-b Enoch’s prophecy was fulfilled in part, when God destroyed the ancient world by water. His prophecy is also a future event, involving God’s wrath upon a world as wicked as the ancient one – only this time, the Lord Himself comes, followed by “ten thousands of His saints.” (Jude 1:14)

Why then, you might ask, is a discussion about Enoch so important? The answer may surprise you. You see, only Enoch and one other man in human history has ever been taken up to glory by God without seeing death – the man Elijah. (II Kings 2:11)

This is a very important part of Enoch’s story, for Elijah and Enoch are yet to see death. God has reserved them for a special purpose:

“And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.” Revelation 11:3-6

We believe that Enoch and Elijah are God’s two witnesses. By the power of God the Holy Spirit, Elijah will perform the same miraculous judgments of God against the soon to be revealed antichrist and his new one world order. (Revelation 11:6) Likewise, Enoch will be the “voice” of warning announcing God’s coming wrath against that same wicked generation who follows after Satan’s inspired world political ruler (antichrist) and his false prophet (an ecumenical religious leader). (Revelation 11:3)

There is one more matter that must be settled – the deaths of these same two witnesses. God reminds all mankind that:

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27

Likewise, God allows His two unique witnesses to die at the hands of those who hate them:

“And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.” Revelation 11:7-10

Though the world may enjoy “seeing” the deaths of God’s two witnesses – and exchange presents around the world; their cackling will quickly turn to horror:

“And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, “Come up hither!” And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.” Revelation 11:11-13

Israel Flag Enoch’s testimony is more than simply being a man who pleased God. God has chosen him to be His voice to that last generation who mocks their Creator and is determined to see Israel destroyed too! They will utterly and totally fail – just as Enoch declared long ago.

Mankind may be foolish enough to trust in their coming world leader, ten kingdom government and religious ecumenicalism – but God declares otherwise in the form of Enoch – the New World Order’s Messenger of Doom.
